Why is the spirit is mentioned in every chapter of Ephesians? Here's the instances mentioned in chapter 94 of the Life-Study of Ephesians: In this chapter Witness Lee shares on page 784 that the spirit mentioned in all these chapters is not just the Holy Spirit or the human spirit but the mingled spirit. This is scripturally grounded, and I like to use Romans 8:16 when I share this with others because this verse mentions both spirits--The Spirit Himself witnesses with our spirit that we are children of God. I've learned that in the Bible the capital S references God's holy Spirit, while whenever a lower case s is used it's man's human spirit. And on page 787 he points out why the spirit is important in the book of Ephesians:
I looked them all up and here they are--The spirit here is the regenerated human spirit indwelt by the Spirit of God....As we consider all these references to the spirit in this short book, we see that the church is altogether a matter in the spirit" (Lee, Witness. - Chapter 4:23 And are renewed in the spirit of your mind. As the spirit spreads into our mind, it renews all the parts of our heart.
- Chapter 5:18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled in spirit.
- Chapter 6:18 By means of all prayer and petition, praying at every time in spirit and watching unto this in all perseverance and petition concerning all the saints.
Because the church is not a social club but the organic Body of Christ, we can only enjoy and experience its reality when we are in our spirit.
