What is the Bountiful Supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ in Philippians 1:19?

Have you ever read Philippians 1:19?  First off, to really get this verse, it's important to know that Paul wrote this letter to the  believers in the city of Philippi from a Roman prison.  After speaking of his chains in verse 13, Paul bursts forth in verse 19 with,  I know that for me this shall turn out to salvation through your petition and the bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

I like the background explanation Witness Lee gives in  chapter 5 in the Life-Study on Philippians on the bountiful supply:

Literally the Greek word [bountiful] refers to the supply of the chorus by someone known as the choragus, the leader or director of the chorus….The choragus supplied all the needs of everyone in the chorus, the needs for food, clothing, lodging, and musical instruments….Paul likens the supply of the Spirit to that of the choragus…This bountiful supply of the all-inclusive Spirit was for Paul to live Christ and magnify Christ in His sufferings for Him (Lee, Witness. Life-Study of Philippians. Anaheim: Living Stream Ministry, 1980, Print).

It doesn’t say the bountiful supply of the Spirit will always turn things around, but that it will cause a crisis to turn out to salvation.  One thing I've appreciated from brother Lee's ministry is this kind of honesty.  And I have learned that what he's shared is true--salvation is not necessarily being saved out of a situation as much as it is experiencing and enjoying Christ as a present salvation in the middle of a crisis.

And the book of Romans has a really simple way of experiencing this salvation every day--For "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!"

You can listen to excerpts from the Life-Study of Philippians given in 1980 on The Life-Study of the Bible with Witness Lee.  The commentary is excellent.
