What are the Securities of Your Salvation?

After being regenerated, you may have a day where you feel like it’s not real or maybe you’ve done something and think maybe you've lost yoursalvation.  Have you?  How do you know?  Like always it's good to come back to the Bible!  On Friday October 1 we read the chapter on The Assurance, Security & Joy of Salvation in the booklet Basic Elements of the Christian Life.   Click here if you would like to read that blog. The chapter also talks about  seven securities that you can use as anchors for your faith.  I'm going to give a quick summary of each one.

7 SECURITIES OF YOUR SALVATION

  • The first one talks about how salvation wasn't our idea but  God's.  He chose us (John 15:16). And we were predestinated like Ephesians 1:4-5 says which means to be marked out beforehand.
  •  The second one is God's love and grace are eternal, and the verse is 1 John 4:10 which says   Herein is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son as a propitiation for our sins.
  • The third security is God's righteousness.   We can tell God because Your Son has died for me, even if you don’t feel like you love me right now, You have to be righteous and forgive me because Your blood has been shed for me and I’m claiming it right now!
  • The fourth security is we have become God's own children!  John 1:12 is one of our favorite verses to show people we're sharing the gospel with. We can never be unborn!
  • The fifth security is God is strong.   John 10:28-29 shows us that God's hand is holding us so that no one can snatch us out of it.
  • The sixth security is God never changesThis point touches how we are prone to going up and down, and we might take our salvation up and down with us.  In the booklet it says, “But our salvation is not based upon erratic feelings.  It is rooted and grounded in a God who is unchanging in His love and faithfulness toward us” (Page 16).  Malachi 3:6 is really clear on that subject:  For I, Jehovah, do not change….
  • And the last security is God has promised us!  He is a faithful God and keeps His word.  I like the verse in Hebrews they put in this section:  Hebrews 13:5  I shall by no means give you up, neither by any means shall I abandon you. If you feel you need to be encouraged, read over these verses and even speak them out loud!
