What's the Sermon on the Mount Really About? Part 2

Have you ever thought the Sermon on the Mount was for people who were just born perfect?  Or do you think what a high standard--who could meet it? Witness Lee shares that if you see how pitiful you are, you will always have mercy on others, and that when we are righteous with ourselves, and merciful towards others we will see God!  I didn't  put these together so this was a bit enlightening to me.

Verse 9 is on the peacemakers; I like this excerpt on page 186 from Chapter 14 of the LIfe-Study of Matthew:

"Our Father is the God of peace (Romans 15:33, 16:20), who has a peaceful life and a peaceful nature.  As those born of Him, if we would be peacemakers, we must behave in His divine life, according to His divine nature"(Lee, Witness. Life-Study of Matthew. Anaheim: Living Stream Ministry, 1977, Print).

The Sermon on the Mount is a lot like the Ten Commandments. But just like the Old Testament commandments, this sermon is supposed to expose us and cause us to see we can't do it.  These messages are reminding me again that in order to live out the divine life, I need to daily enjoy and receive a fresh supply of this divine life by coming to the word of God.
