What is the Crucial Significance of the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13?

When I was in elementary school, I probably recited the Lord's prayer hundreds of times in confession for my sins. Not until years later did I see the true significance of this prayer.  A few days ago I read Chapter 21 of the Life-Study of Matthew  which is on the Lord's prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. Something  stood out to me differently this time as I read through it, and that was a line on page 266 which said that this was actually a prayer of the kingdom.

In this Life-Study Witness Lee talks about Satan's rebellion that occurred long before Adam was created in Genesis 2.  This rebellion is recorded in Ezekiel 28:17 and Isaiah 14:13-15.  After Satan's rebellion, the Bible says that God cast Satan to the earth, and  then Ephesians 6:13 tells us that the earth was under "the world-rulers of this darkness," and "the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies." Here's an incredible excerpt that I enjoyed on page 267 of this chapter:
"Thus, the will of God could not be done on earth as in heaven.  Hence, God created man with the intention of recovering the earth for Himself (Gen. 1:26-28).  After the fall of man, Christ came to bring the heavenly rule to earth so that the earth might be recovered for God's right, that the will of God might be done on earth as in heaven.  This is the purpose of the new king establishing the kingdom of the heavens with His followers" (Lee, Witness. Life-Study of Matthew. Anaheim: Living Stream Ministry, 1977, Print).
This opened my yes to see more that the basic problem in this universe is that there's an opposing will to God's will.  That makes me see that this is why it's so important for us to pray over so many matters--God, may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!
